Welcome to Nerdily! If you’re here, you’re more than likely a little bit quirky and a little bit nerdy. That’s cool, and it’s the reason why I’m here. Stay a while, won’t you?
What is Nerdily?
Nerdily has long been what I referred to as a “nerd culture blog,” but over the years, it’s transformed into so much more. Right now, Nerdily focuses on teaching others about nerdy subjects like cosplay, comic books, non-conventional fandom-based topics, and more! Before that, though, it was definitely a hodge-podge of ideas.
The main core of Nerdily has always been to help others feel comfortable in their own skin: all those who are called “weirdos,” or “weebs,” or “nerds” (obviously). We’re all passionate about something, and there shouldn’t be any shame in that. Be the quirky kid you’ve always been without fear of judgement. That’s what I’ve tried to convey for the last five years.
Who Runs Nerdily?
It me: Mickey. I’m the creator of Nerdily and have written pretty much all of the posts (with the exception of a few guest posts here and there).
Nerdily was started in January 2015 as part of a semester-long project during my senior year of college. I had never blogged before, but quickly grew to love the hobby. Years later, and I’m still around, though not as much as I would like to be.
If you want to know a little bit about me:
During daylight hours, I work in SEO marketing for a firm in the Chicagoland area. I love spooky things, Halloween, sewing costumes, and My Hero Academia. I’m also a big fan of purple hair. BIG FAN.
Is Nerdily an Active Blog?
Here and there I will see that someone’s commented on a post or shared something I’ve written, and I’ll wonder if they assume this site to be an abandoned blog. The truth is: it kinda is and isn’t. I’ve had plans to completely revamp the whole site, clean things up, and give it the TLC it genuinely deserves. But there really hasn’t been a right time to do that quite yet, but it’ll come.
But yes, it’s somewhat active.
The blog’s spirit lives on quite actively on social media, though! Last year, I even started a Tik Tok (@nerdilyblog) and have been experimenting with that.
