Where I’ve Been | An Update on My Life

If you’ve been around this neck of the woods for some time, you may have noticed that I used to post regularly. Recently, however, I have been having an exceptionally difficult time getting back into the groove of blogging. Every time I log on to this site, I remember how much I thoroughly enjoy blogging, sharing experiences, and interacting with commenters and fellow bloggers. I’m trying to get back into it with the little free time I have anymore, but some days it’s a struggle to come up with a topic.

So, to hopefully give myself a kickstart, I’m going to get some things off my chest, and let you know where I have been.

First thing’s first, the main reason why I have been absent is because of my job. I love where I work, and what I do, but I basically do what I do here in my professional life. Some days, the thought of spending another few hours writing, editing, and researching after working for 8+ hours is too much, and blogging often goes to the wayside.

I’ve also been experiencing some changes at work that have been affecting my workload, so a great deal of my time has been devoted to that. It’s been a tough process, and I’m hoping that the adjustment period subsides sooner rather than later, and then I can get into a groove with my work/life balance, and devote more time to blogging for fun.

The other main reason for my absence is due to the fact that I have taken up sewing a lot more recently. I love to sew, and I love to create pieces that I can hold and admire. Now that I have some sort of skills to use in the creation of costumes/cosplays, I have been trying to push the limits and develop my skills more. I’ve also been taking limited commission orders from friends and co-workers so I can make a little extra cash. If you’re interested in seeing what my main creation is, you can check out my Princess Peach blog/vlog.

Additionally, I have been having a tough time finding topics to discuss. I haven’t had much time to read comics lately, and the free time that I do have is taken up by sleeping, sewing, or just relaxing (which is lazy in some regards, I know). I do have some projects I’m working on that will be coming up, which has kickstarted a lot of my most recent blog posts, and it has felt great to get back to this.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I have been fishing for some blog topics that are unique to this blog, but also seem interesting to you guys. This has been an exceptional help, so hopefully that will spawn a new wave of posts.

The final major factor that has been contributing to my disappearance happened within my personal life. About two months, my boyfriend and I split up (this was the same one I had mentioned I was hoping to watch more Star Trek with). It was completely unexpected, and I was totally blindsided by what happened. Needless to say, it threw me through a loop. The break-up occurred right before a lot of my work-related difficulties sprouted, so the month of January was a wash due to that. I’m glad to report, though, that I feel much better about it now, but it was still very shocking and devastating for some time.

So that’s that, really! I’m working to get the blog back up and running regularly again. But, in the meantime, you can take a look at a post I wrote for The Sartorial Geek! I had a great time compiling it, so I hope you enjoy it!

Also, thank you for always supporting Nerd•ily! As of right now, I’m 15 followers away from hitting 500 on Instagram, which is exciting! So stick around, because there’s more to come!

Life was meant to be lived nerdily, so what are you waiting for?
