Zainey Laney Wax | Review and Sneak Peek

Hello dear Nerds! I have an exciting blog post for you all, which I think you’re going to enjoy—especially if you’re inclined to decorating your home with the nerdiest of goodies.

Today I get the great pleasure of sharing with you my review and sneak peek to a new wax melt subscription service, provided by my good friend and YouTube pal, Zainey Laney! You may know Laney from previous swaps and collaborations relating to the Geeks & Beauties group, as she and I have known each other virtually for quite some time. This time around, though, I come to you as a PR Rep for her new subscription box, called Zainey Laney Wax!

This subscription box is getting ready to take flight as a fully-fledged monthly treat, wherein you will gain access to wax melt scents based off a rotating theme. The best part is that each month’s theme will be entirely nerdy! Who doesn’t need any more reason to geek out, especially at home?

For this preview, I have five of the scents from this month’s first box which, appropriately for the time of year, is Harry Potter! This particular box is worth $25 for the five scents, a postcard with original artwork, and a collectible token which you can use later as you earn more from each box.

If you’re interested in seeing what’s in store, read on for scent profiles, my personal review, and information for where you can sign up for one of the many subscription packages. So, get ready to take the Hogwarts Express to our favorite Wizarding World!

Here are the list of scents, and below are further descriptions of each wax melt:

  • Butterscotch Brew
  • Sherbet Lemon
  • Chocolate Frog
  • Tooth-Flossing Stringmints
  • Pumpkin Pastie

Butterscotch Brew

Inspired by Harry, Ron, and Hermione’s favorite drink: Butterbeer! This scent has a distinct root beer scent, with a hint of butterscotch and caramel. Think of a root beer float with a caramel drizzle on top. It’s sweet with an edge, but definitely worth experiencing. This was the first scent I smelled after opening the package, and it was a welcome scent. I haven’t tried this one in the warmer yet, but I have a feeling that root beer scent will mix well with the vanilla once heated.

Sherbet Lemon

Sherbet Lemon is a delicious mix of fruit-flavored cereal (Froot Loops), lemon cake, and vanilla frosting. The fruity cereal is much more prominent in the scent profile, but the more you smell it, the more you smell fresh lemon—like in a meringue or pie. This would be a good scent to put on if you are not quite ready for summer to end, because it smells like every delightful citrus dessert you could possibly enjoy during the warmer months. This scent is one of my favorites in the group.

Chocolate Frog

Not a typical chocolate scent, Chocolate Frog is a mixture of blueberry and cocoa, with a hint of cream cheese. Similar to a blueberry cheesecake with chocolate, or a chocolate-covered blueberry. This is another one that I’ll have to put into the warmer to determine how I feel about it, because I’m not sure about it currently.

Tooth-Flossing Stringmints

The scent description says that the Tooth-Flossing Stringmints consists of Cotton Candy, Peppermint, and Vanilla Frosting, but to me this wax melt smells like the inside of a 7/11 and nostalgia. I know that sounds a little vague, but I actually like the smell of a 7/11: a blend of cola, ICEEs, with a hint of coffee in the background. But it also smells like my grandma’s house, so it takes me back to a simpler time. This would be a great one to put on during the winter months, as the peppermint evokes memories of the Christmastime flavors. Though I’m not particularly a big fan of peppermint or cotton candy scents, for those of you who are, you’re sure to love this one.

Pumpkin Pastie

By far my favorite scent, Pumpkin Pastie smells like everything warm and wonderful about autumn. Cinnamon and pumpkin are prominent scents, along with nutmeg, allspice, and cardamom. This wax melt makes me want to sink my teeth into a warm, flaky crust. This is the only one I’ve put into my wax warmer so far, and the throw of this scent is impressive, which makes me think that all the other ones will be nice and strong.

Overall, I truly love this first collection from Zainey Laney Wax! I think she chose a wonderful theme to kick things off, and I can’t wait to see what each month will hold. If you’re interested in signing up, there is still time! Head over to the site and sign up for whichever package will suit your nerdy home needs and budget. There are six distinct packages from which you can choose, each boasting their own amazing perks.

If you’re looking to get into wax melts, I would highly recommend the package I received, called “Just the Box, Ma’am,” but if you would like to go all out and get three months of wax melts, then I also recommend the Super Supporter Box (and guys, I hear the 2nd month’s box is going to be amazing).

And, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask in the comments section below!

Life was meant to be lived nerdily, so what are you waiting for?
