Here we are at the end of April, and I’m finally getting my Casual Cosplay up! Did you Nerds have a good month?
This month’s theme was inspired by Hayao Miyazaki’s films, mainly Howl’s Moving Castle. Since many of his films take place in springtime-like settings, I thought making April’s theme “Miyazaki” would be very appropriate. When I was coming up with my ensemble, I was drawn to flowy fabrics, brighter tones, and blues. My outfit inspiration came from Sophie Hatter, so I knew I wanted to incorporate many aspects of her darling look into my own.
Now, without further ado, here is what I’ve curated for this month’s #CCOD!
The main pieces I wanted to incorporate into my look were this flowy, lightweight skirt, and the hat that I’m wearing. The hat actually came home with me after my time in England, which I thrifted on Grafton Street. The skirt is one of my favorites, as it’s feminine and comfortable. My clutch purse is also vintage from the 50s-60s, and is encrusted with plastic pearls.
I unfortunately forgot to grab a picture of my shoes, but they’re mint green T-strap shoes with a 1″ glitter heel. My striped top is actually a navy and white body suit I got from H&M, which I love wearing with skirts and high-waist jeans.
I wanted to go with a more dolly look for this Casual Cosplay, so I skipped the eyeliner and applied mascara to my top and lower lashes. The color palette I went with for my eyes and cheeks incorporated petal pinks, taupe, and a touch of orange. I went with a more understated eye so that the focus would be on my berry lips. I wanted the main pops of color to be the color of my shoes and my lips so my look would be balanced but pleasant.
Sorry for such a short post, but my month was definitely taken up with C2E2 projects. But, as always, I would LOVE to see what outfits you’ve come up with for this month’s theme!
Remember that next month will be Star Trek-themed, in honor of the 30th anniversary of The Next Generation, and for the premiere of Star Trek Discovery. Until then, Nerds, share your outfits with me by using #ccod and #nerdilyccod!
Life was meant to be lived nerdily, so what are you waiting for?

This looks like something straight out of the movie from what I’ve seen of Howl’s Moving Castle. Cute idea!
