It’s swap season again, and the wonderful people in the Geeks & Beauties community have come together to host a Springtime gift exchange! If you’ve been around long enough to have seen past swap posts, then you’ll know that all participants get paired up, create wishlists, then curate a swap gift that equal to no more than $20-worth of goodies to send off to their partner.
This time around, I got paired up with one of the admins—and my good friend—Zainey Laney! She sent me an incredibly sweet and thoughtful swap package, and I have been dying to share with you all what I received.
Laney filled my package with lots of nerdy goodness, and even went with a theme. Since I had put a few Stranger Things items on my wishlist, she rolled with that idea, and sent me items that went along with the premise of that show.
Of course, the two main Stranger Things items she sent me were the Barb Pop! figure, and the “I Believe” enamel pin. She also included two Colourpop eye shadows I had wished for in the colors “Catnap” (an uber shimmery dusty rose) and “School Bus” (navy blue).
On top of these goodies, Laney included several bonus items that weren’t on my wishlist, including a Molten Liquid Eyeshadow by e.l.f. Cosmetics, and four Sarenzo Beauty products (an indie brand that Laney often talks about on her channel): a chocolate mint sugar scrub, two creamy oils in “Vampire’s Blood” and “Pineapple Upside Down Cake”–get it, the Upside Down?–and a body cream in “Pink Berry and Tonka Bean.”
Laney’s gift was incredibly thoughtful and sweet, and I have been loving everything I got–so much so that I was inspired to create a makeup look using the products she sent that would be Upside Down-worthy.
I used the two Colourpop shades and the liquid eyeshadow Laney sent, along with one of my favorite highlighters (also by Colourpop) called “Monster,” and a new liquid lipstick by Makeup Monsters called “Grim.”
HUGE thanks to Zainey Laney for being an amazing friend and swap partner, and thanks to the people in the Geeks & Beauties group. If you’re a blogger or YouTuber, I highly recommend that you join a community. I’m very fortunate to be part of two incredible blogging communities, and they are great sources of support and comfort.
Life was meant to be lived nerdily, so what are you waiting for?
