I know that this seems a little out of place, being January 17th and all, but I have a good(?) reason why it’s taken me so long to post a write-up of the multiple exchanges I did over the holidays. More on that in a minute, but first, and introduction:
Over the Christmas season, I was a part of two card exchanges—one for the Geek Girl x Bloggers group and one for the Geeks and Beauties community—and an ornament exchange. In total, I sent out and received about 27 cards. I also got one very lovely ornament and gave an ornament in an exchange, which was also within the Geeks and Beauties community. With so much mail coming in constantly each day during December, it was like opening a little Christmas gift every day. I want to thank everyone for the cards they sent! They were all so appreciated, creative, and sweet.
Holy cats, you guys! Here are some of the Christmas cards I received in the TWO card exchanges I was a part of this year, and some cards from nerdy friends! They're all so beautiful!! Thank you to everyone who sent me a card. I'm going to have a final (and late) wrap-up some time this week. #christmascards #geekgirlxbloggers #gbcommunity #geeksandbeauties #geeksandbeautiescommunity #sexypizza #dalek #doctorwho #cute #glitter #sailormoon #cardexchange #cardexchange2016 #christmas #handdrawn #handmade #bloggers #youtubers #community
Some cards were nerdy, some were handmade, and all were super cute! I even got a surprise portrait of a Yuletide Sexy Pizza!
It was such a delight to receive these, and they’re all safely tucked away in my memory box. Thank you again to all!
For the Geeks and Beauties ornament exchange, we were all paired up with one person and given a $15 spending limit. I got paired up with Marshall, who can be seen over on Zainey Laney’s YouTube channel. Since we’re both super nerds, our ornaments to one another were geeky to say the least! But there was a hiccup along the way, which led to the delay of this post.
Marshall and I sent out each other’s ornaments within the same weekend, which was the same weekend we were supposed to get another snowstorm here in Chicago. The storm was a bust, but for some reason, the package he sent me got redirected, and sent to a post office about an hour and a half away from where I live. There it sat for over a month, and I still have not seen that package.
In the meantime, I was trying to get into contact with the USPS anyway I knew how: email, missing mail claim, a Facebook message, and several tweets later, and nothing was getting me my missing package. While Marshall had received the ornament I made for him, I was still waiting on mine, and getting worried.
Marshall decided that it was best if he remade the ornament and sent me a new one, which made me feel terrible considering that he now had to go through the trouble of making it and sending it all over again. I’ve only received one phone call about the first package, but I have not received it since.
But, luckily, the new one arrived this past Saturday, and I absolutely LOVE it!
If you want to see the ornament I made for Marshall, check it out here:
I had a great time making it! Also make sure to check out Marshall’s site and follow him on social media (@onetruehazard)! I’m looking forward to the future exchanges to take place in both these awesome communities. If you’re interested in being a part of either, make sure to check them out on Facebook! It’s definitely worth it, I promise!
Check out some of the other swaps, exchanges, and collabs I’ve done with both these groups. let me tell you what, we have a TON of fun!
Life was meant to be lived nerdily, so what are you waiting for?
