You know very well how much I love DIY projects, so when Hannah from Cats & Coffee offered to create a DIY tutorial for the Star Trek Extravaganza, I couldn’t say no! Hannah has created some adorably geeky pieces in her easy-to-follow guide, so I hope your creative muscles are twitching with excitement.
If you’re not familiar with Hannah’s work, then you’re missing out on some of the classiest pieces on the internet. My personal favorite is her recipe for Romulan Ale, which I’m itching to try. Check out Hannah’s amazing work here and on her site. I promise you won’t regret it!
Easy DIY Star Trek Art | by Hannah from Cats & Coffee
Hi folks, it’s Hannah from Cats & Coffee! I’m taking over the blog today to talk to you about a quick Star Trek DIY I did for my office/guest room/overall girl cave. It’s easy, fun, and cheap, but it does take a while.
Materials:
- Canvases (size of your choice)
- Brushes
- Acrylic Paint
- Stencils or a reference picture(s)
Full disclosure: my boyfriend teased me about creating such nerdy paintings, but my dad loved them and thought they were “so cool.” My mom said they were “perfect” for my office. Take that, boyfriend!
Because I’m such a big fan of The Next Generation (TNG), I decided to make one of my pieces Picard’s famous “make it so” phrase. Is there anything more inspiring or badass? Whenever I see it, I hear Picard’s voice in my head and become inspired to write, finish a blog post, or whatever.
I also chose a silhouette of the Enterprise because that felt like a classic. You can Google that and then print and cut it out for a stencil. If you’re more artistic than me (though everyone probably is), you could freehand the outline. You don’t need any of the details if you’re painting the silhouette one color like I did.
First, I traced the Enterprise silhouette onto the first canvas. Next, I traced Picard’s saying onto the next one. I traced the saying because I printed it out in a specific font and I’m not great at hand lettering. Once you have your designs outlined, just paint in the design and the background. Viola! Easy, DIY Star Trek paintings for your home or office.
With this project, the hardest parts were picking what I wanted to paint and waiting for the paint to dry.
I hope you create something geeky and inspiring for your walls!
Amazing job, Hannah! Please go check out her stuff. She’s a gem! Also, don’t forget to enter in my giveaway, running until Sept. 22nd!
Life was meant to be lived nerdily, so what are you waiting for?
Those are so pretty! I love the pink, black, and gold color scheme.

So cute! Just want to let Hannah know that she is way more artistic than I am – and I may need to make that Picard quote myself.
