Heh, bet you thought I completely forgot about this series. Well, you’d be partially wrong, because I very nearly did. Hey, it happens. But, it’s time for another installment of Nerd•ily’s Niceties, and this one’s pretty entertaining. Not only was there an extra day in February this year, there was also extra excitement and extra stress. though the posts were few an far between during February, there were some diamonds in the rough.
This is my first post to celebrate the monthly challenge, which was established by Scruffy Little Nerd Herder. February’s theme was “black,” so I had to share six photos that pertained to that prompt. I had such a great time creating this post that 6on6 has now become a new series on the site. Make sure you’re on the lookout for April’s 6on6!
How Your Valentine’s Day Might Go Down in 10 Gifs
Okay, I’m not a cynic, really. I’m actually somewhat of a romantic, and a sucker for lovely displays of affection. However, there are some mighty high expectations that are set for Valentine’s Day. What else can you do about them except poke a little fun at the silly things? Plus, I’m also a sucker for a good gif. Boom! You’ve got a mash-up.
Hey Girl, Make Some Valentines
Real talk: I am exceptionally proud of these valentines I made. Despite all the DIY tutorials I publish on here, I make mistakes more often than not. There are crafts I can’t even share with my own mother. When these bad boys (pun kind of intended) turned out the way they did, I was shocked at myself. Then I couldn’t wait to send them out to my Geeks & Beauties friends for our Valentine’s Day card swap. Speaking of which…
Lots of Love: Valentines from my Gal Pals
This February, I partook in a card swap with some ladies from the Geeks & Beauties Google+ community. When all the valentines arrived, I was absolutely tickled. Each valentine was unique, contained a special message, and brightened my day. As much as I loved making and filling out my own valentines, I had more fun receiving these gems from my blog buddies. It’s such a wonderful community to be a part of, and they do lots of awesome activities as a group. All around, this exchange was a win-win.
My Top Star Trek: TNG Episodes
The only reason why I like this post so much is because I got to rediscover a lot of my favorite episodes as a result. I’m fairly new to the Star Trek fandom (I’ve only been watching TNG for a couple of years), and some of the episodes on the list were ones I first watched. For certain episodes, I can recall where I was when I first saw it, and what I was thinking. Weird, huh?
That’s that, then! Do you have a favorite post from February? Did you do something exciting during that month? Sharing is caring, so don’t forget to let me know in the comments below!
Life was meant to be lived nerdily, so what are you waiting for?

When I was planning on which men to feature on each card, I couldn’t resist making a Sherlock one. He was a safe bet! 😀
