Finally, I’m keeping up with this ongoing series! Here, you will find some of my favorite blog posts that are up on the site. November was such an exciting month for the site, so there’s a lot to cover. You’d better buckle up, Buttercup!
November saw the dawn of The Beginner’s Guide to Comicbooking, a series that I have been planning for a long time. I had always wanted to get into the world of comic books, but I never knew where to start. When I started getting more involved, I thought that it would be an interesting activity to chronicle. The idea for The Beginner’s Guide was born out of my own uncertainties with the hobby; I decided that the more I learn, the more material I can share with others. The world of comic books is filled with misconceptions, and I want to disprove those, especially being a woman. I also wanted to help others who would like to know more about comic books. Expect to see more installments in the future! read the latest here.
There are two basic things that you should know about me: I’m a derp, and I love cats. That being said, I get exceptionally derpy whenever I partake in activities that involve cats. Neko Atsume makes me the derpiest. This mobile game came into my life in the most wonderful way: by fate. Okay, maybe it wasn’t fate. It was on the Featured page on iTunes, but that’s close enough to fate. Yes, I still play the game. Yes, I have expanded my yard. And yes, I spend too much time on such a slow-paced game. Do I care? Nope.
This surprisingly popular post was inspired by my own frustration with those awkward questions I mock. Mainly: “Are you bringing anyone to the party?” No, I’m not, and it doesn’t bother me. So what if I don’t have a boyfriend? Please don’t insist that I have to bring a guy just to be somebody. To combat this slightly annoying question, I came up with an idea I thought was funny: Mad Libs for uncomfortable situations. Boom. Alibi Mad Libs. I thought they would be especially helpful during this time of the year, so I waited to unleash them onto the world until the week of Thanksgiving.
Not only is it one of my most popular posts, it also contains the best comments section on the site. Seriously, you’ve got to check it out. I couldn’t have asked for anything better.
Another popular post is my holiday wishlist, curated for those special nerds in your life. I’ve got to admit, I didn’t expect this to be such a hit. When I was writing the post, I debated on the items I featured. I was unsure if I displayed enough of a variety. But, after I saw how well it was received, I figured I had done something right! Hopefully it helped out someone in their Christmas shopping endeavors.
No, this isn’t another shameless plug for the giveaway.
Maybe a little?
Whatever. Either way, this is HUGE. I had been planning this for over a month, but I wanted to wait for an appropriate time to announce the giveaway. That time came after I reached 100 followers. I had to do something special to celebrate! Thus, the Giveaway Extravaganza! And guess what? There is still time to enter! Upload your pictures by December 18th to one of my social media sites. Make sure you follow that particular page!
Also, I want to stress that if you do not have a qualifying item to photograph, you can always find something online to show me. Just say that it is an item that you would like to have. And thank you to those who have entered so far. I saw an especially cool TARDIS ornament that filled me with delight. So, go enter!!
Life was meant to be lived nerdily, so what are you waiting for?
