The Ultimate Harry Potter Tag

Hello nerds! I hope your Halloween was spoop-tacular! I always get a little depressed once November 1st rolls around, but luckily, I have a lot of projects to keep me busy all November long. Also, I guess I should start thinking of fun Christmas activities for the site…?

Nah. I’ll wait on that one. But, in the meantime, I have a fun post to share with you.

Before I begin, I would like to thank Alice of The Geeky Burrow for tagging me. When I saw her post, I thought it was a great idea, and immediately jumped on board. Harry Potter was my first great literary love, and of course, my first fandom. So, get ready for the feels with this post!

Favorite book?

Definitely Prisoner of Azkaban. I liked it because Harry wasn’t directly battling Voldemort, and I love Sirius and Lupin.

Least favorite book?

I don’t think I have a least favorite. I like them all equally. I used to listen to the Jim Dale audiobooks all the time as a kid, so I fell in love with his interpretation of the characters.

Favorite movie?

Without a doubt, it’s Sorcerer’s Stone. The whole movie–and the book, too–have a beautifully woven theme of love and friendship, and how these elements can build someone up. The movie became especially important after I studied abroad in England. Feeling a lot like Harry, I was afriad that I would not find my place, but wound up loving my time there. So, Sorcerer’s Stone has a much deeper meaning to me.

Least favorite movie?

Half-Blood Prince. It totally butchered the story of the book. The movie is also a very lack-luster adaptation, in my opinion.

Favorite quote?

I have two: Hermione’s line in SS where she says, “Me! Books and cleverness! There are more important things–friendship and bravery.”

Also, Dumbledore’s line, “It is our choices that show what we truly are far more than our abilities.”

Favorite Weasley?

The twins. I like them both equally.

Favorite female character?

Probably McGonagall. I love her in the books, and I love how Dame Maggie Smith portrayed her in the movies.

Favorite villain?

Normally, I would say Snape, but he technically isn’t a true villain. So, I guess I’d have to say Lucius Malfoy.

Favorite male character?

Snape. Snape all the way. #TeamSnape

Favorite professor?

Lupin, definitely. He’s a genuinely good man, who happens to carry around a lot of demons. But I like how he’s Harry’s mentor, and keeps things real.

Wash Snape’s hair or spend a day listening to Lockhart rant about himself?

I’d probably hex Lockhart and get sent to Azkaban, so I’d take one for the team and wash Snape’s hair. I’m not saying I’m a trained hair stylist, but I went through a period in my adolescence where I didn’t want to wash my hair, so I think I could work a miracle or two. large

Duel an elated Bellatrix or deul an angry Molly.

Bellatrix. Molly would kick my ass.

Travel to Hogwarts via the Hogwarts Express or the Flying Car?

Are you kidding me? The train, all the way. I could finally get my hands on some pumpkin pasties.

Kiss Voldemort or give Umbridge a bubble bath?

I’d kiss baby Voldemort…

Ride a Hippogriff or ride a Firebolt?

Probably neither, since I have a crippling fear of heights.

Is there a character which you felt differently about between the movies versus the books?

Ginny for sure. They ruined her character in the movies, whereas in the books, she’s a beast.

Is there a movie you preferred instead of the book?

What even is this question? No!

Richard Harris or Michael Gambon as Dumbledore?

Richard Harris, for sure. I think he was the perfect Dumbledore.

Your top thing, person, or event which wasn’t included in the movies that annoyed you the most?

PEEVES!! They never included Peeves the Poltergeist, and he was such a critical character in many of the books. He also would have been an awesome character to keep in the movies.

If you could remake any of the films, which would it be?

Half-Blood Prince. That was just a mess.

Which House did you initially believe you’d be in?

Gryffindor, of course! Everyone did back in the day.

Which House were you actually sorted into on Pottermore (or another sorting quiz)?

Honestly, I don’t know. I take all of those quizzes, and each time it’s something different. I think I would either be in Ravenclaw or Gryffindor, but I have a soft spot for Slytherins.

Which class would be your favorite?

I don’t know, either. Maybe Defense Against the Dark Arts, especially with Lupin as my professor, but I can’t say for certain. Or, maybe Transfiguration with McGonagall? It’s such a tough decision.

Which spell do you think would be most useful to learn?

Accio and lumos.

Which character do you think you’d instantly become friends with at Hogwarts.

Luna and Neville. They’re my kind of crowd.

If you could own one of the Three Hallows, which would it be?

The cloak of invisibility. I could finally hide from my problems like I always dreamed of doing!

Is there any aspect of the books you’d want to change? This can be a character, event, setting, etc.

Nope, nothing. Of course, I wish that some of my favorite characters weren’t dead, but it’s all part of the story. I think that’s the best part of Ms. Rowling’s writing: she gives a purpose to everything in her books.

Favorite Marauder?

Lupin. Again, I love the man. He’s one of those characters I wish were real because he seems like a great guy to know–and have on your side.

If you could bring one character back to life, who would it be?

THIS IS THE TOUGHEST QUESTION EVER, OH MY GOD. Even though it would radically change the last two books, I’d bring back Sirius. Harry deserves a solid father figure in his life, and I felt so gutted when his last chance at connecting with his parents (via a living source, not magic) was snuffed out. I just want Harry to be happy!

Finally, Hallows or horcruxes?

Hallows for sure. Horcruxes are like those Snickers commercials: “You’re not you when your soul is torn into multiple pieces.”

If you enjoyed this round of Harry Potter Tag, then you’ll love it even more when YOU  get involved! I won’t tag people specifically, but if you feel so inclined to make your own post, then go for it. Also, be sure to check out The Geeky Burrow!

Life was meant to be lived nerdily, so what are you waiting for?

The man has had enough hardships in his life, he at least needs a shampoo and rinse.

I have a hard time deciding because I don’t know what I would like the best. If my Hogwarts letter ever arrived, I would have found out myself. But I’m not bitter about it ;D

Haha! Well, the ministry is probably still sorting out the lost records of muggle borns. Perhaps you’ll find a pleasant surprise when your child turns 11?

Love this! That Snape gif is too cute<3 I agree that Harry definitely deserved to have a father figure in his life. I mean, both Sirius AND Dumbledore had to die? C'mon, Rowling!
